WHY:
Together Empowering Asian Minds (TEAM) is a peer-led coalition formed to address the urgent and unique challenges faced by any Asian American with mental health issues, most especially Asian American women. To help raise awareness about this important issue, we are holding an Open Call for videos.
WHAT:
Participants can submit one (1) original video between 30 seconds and 6 minutes in length in each of the following three (3) categories:
The video should be between 30 seconds and 6 minutes in length. The theme of the videos should align with TEAM’s mission and incorporate the tagline: “Speak. Share. Support.” The end slate must contain TEAM’s website URL: teamasianminds.org

What are some of the challenges the AAPI community faces in addressing mental health issues? How can we as a group challenge these cultural forces and de-stigmatize talking about and seeking treatment for mental health issues?Personal Story
Have you or someone you know faced mental health challenges? What is your experience with mental health issues? Has your cultural background affected the way you handle it? Share your story with others to know that they are not alone.Public Service Announcement (PSA)
Create a call to action video. Ask others to join the campaign. Help raise awareness about the mental health challenges faced by the AAPI population by creating a Public Service Announcement video. Encourage others to speak up and seek help. Let them know there’s no shame in seeking help and that there are resources available to help them.The video should be between 30 seconds and 6 minutes in length. The theme of the videos should align with TEAM’s mission and incorporate the tagline: “Speak. Share. Support.” The end slate must contain TEAM’s website URL: teamasianminds.org
1. The Open Call will start on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 6:00 PM ET and end on February, February 3, 2017, 11:59 PM ET.
2. Public voting will start on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 12:00 AM ET and end on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 11:59 PM ET.
3. Once the public voting period begins, votes will be determined by the number of “likes” on the video posted to YouTube. Any “likes” on the video before the official voting period begins will not be counted towards your final vote count. If voter fraud is suspected, the votes in question will be disqualified.
4. Once the videos have been narrowed down to three (3) finalists from each of the three (3) categories (for a total of nine (9) finalists), voting on the final videos will be conducted by a panel of judges assembled by TEAM. The decisions of TEAM and the judges are final and binding, and not subject to appeal.
5. The video should be between 30 seconds and 6 minutes in length. The theme of the videos should align with TEAM’s mission and incorporate the tagline: “Speak. Share. Support.” The end slate must contain TEAM’s website URL: teamasianminds.org/
6. Participants must own the rights to any and all content (including any images, art, video, and music) used in the video(s) or have explicit permission from the rights owner for all uses. If any person(s) appearing in any video is (are) under the age of 18, entrant must obtain written permission from a parent or legal guardian before submitting video.
7. The creator(s) will retain 100% copyright ownership of their material, however entrants agree to allow TEAM to use the video royalty free and without restriction or limitation such as, but not limited to:
(1) using the video in all TEAM promotions, advertising, and events, and
(2) on any digital, web, and social media and distribute such copies through all platforms and modes of delivery,
(3) at public screenings and on-air broadcast, and
(4) being edited for use in conjunction with TEAM activities, videos, promotion, etc.
8. Finalists will be judged on the following criteria:
(1) how well it aligns with TEAM’s mission
(2) how well the tagline “Speak. Share. Support.” is incorporated into the video’s message
(3) the quality of the video
9. The winning entry in each of the three categories will be awarded a prize (TBA), will be promoted on the TEAM website and on all TEAM social media channels, and will be screened at college campuses nationwide in Spring 2017.
10. By submitting a video and completing the submission form, participants agree to comply with all guidelines and rules presented in this document.
