Together Empowering Asian Minds (TEAM) Launches National Public Awareness Campaign

Boston, MA. September 15, 2016. Together Empowering Asian Minds (TEAM) is pleased to announce the launch of a National Public Awareness campaign on Asian American mental health. “We believe by engaging, educating, and empowering key stakeholders, TEAM can transform how Asian American women and their loved ones perceive mental health and receive mental health services,” said Chien-Chi Huang, Executive Director of Asian Women for Health and Project Lead of TEAM. In support of the campaign launch, TEAM is announcing kickoff events, a video open call, and a new resource website.

The TEAM Kickoff Event will take place on September 20th at the MGH O’Keeffe Auditorium from 6pm to 8pm and will be simulcast to participating colleges. This event is co-hosted by the MGH Center for Cross-Cultural Student Emotional Wellness and will feature a performance by The Breaking Silences Project. To attend the TEAM Kickoff Event at MGH, please register at: https://teamkickoff2016.eventbrite.com.

A recording of the Kickoff Event will be available to view on the TEAM website after September 20, or if you would like to hold your own discussion group or event, please contact TEAM for more information at info@teamasianminds.org.

The TEAM Video Open Call will also officially launch on September 20th. Participants can submit an original video between 30 seconds and 6 minutes in one of three categories: video essay, personal story, or public service announcement (PSA). Guidelines for the Video Open Call are posted on the TEAM website.

The TEAM website is now live: http://www.teamasianminds.org. The brand new website is home to information and resources on mental health for Asian Americans. With the site, TEAM hopes to help promote open and honest discussion about mental health issues and services. Visitors can participate in the campaign by taking a pledge, making a contribution, sharing their story, and more. Visit the website for details.

With a grant from the Hope & Grace initiative by philosophy, TEAM’s goal is to engage 150,000 people by April 2017. For more information about TEAM and ways to get involved, please email us at info@teamasianminds.org.
